Finally the groundbreaking day has arrived. No big ceremony, just me and Jeff of Duame Sand and Gravel operating the excavator.
The only thing that happened the first day was Jeff pulled out the stumps and piled them up. On day 2, more equipment arrived along with crew: two dump trucks, a dozer and a skid steer. Then things really got going.
I can't say enough good things about the excavation crew from Duame Sand and Gravel, Lena, WI. Jeff (excavator), Taylor (bulldozer & skid steer), Mike & Killer (truck drivers) were professional and easy to work with. I'm looking forward to seeing them again in the spring when they do the final back fill and leveling out.

Duame Sand & Gravel from Stiles Jct. has the job of excavation. Pulling Stumps.
There go the stairs. I tried to find someone to give them to and only was able to get one section reused.
