Greg Reinhardt and his son Devon started the HVAC on March 11th. Kind of a boring subject for photos, but here are some. The thing I was most impressed with was how complicated it was to find a route for all the venting that was needed. I had in my mind it was just the heating and cold air returns. But NO - I hadn't taken into consideration the vents for 4 bathrooms, plus shower in sauna area, plus two water closets, plus 2 dryer vents, plus 2 kitchen hoods, plus 2 gas fireplaces, plus makeup air for overall ventilation, plus a vent for the gas hot water heater, plus the intake and exhaust for the furnace. Altogether I have 18 holes in my walls!

Of the 3 going with the trusses 2 are heat, and one is from the cooktop hood from upstairs. The insulated pipes are for the bathroom/shower vents. You can see the actual vent for the sauna shower in the middle left. In the center is the can for the light and to the right the heat vent.IMG 3537Those exhaust vents from the last photo are the ones lower on the house on the left - plus a makeup air vent. The PVC pipes in the foreground are for the furnace intake & exhaust.

I think that if one winter day, I turned on all the fans in the house, bathrooms, dryers and kitcen hoods, the house would look like a mighty steam engine, with hot air coming out from every wall. Don't think I'll try it though!
