The exterior trim and siding took FOREVER! They started with the trim around the windows the last week of May. Then worked on the soffits all of June. We used pine tongue and grove stained dark brown like the siding. They started the siding the 2nd week of June and finally finished the last week of July. I think the holdup was a lack of qualified crews. The cultured stone went on the last week of June. After the siding, the facia was put up. It has a curvy under side like the alpine houses. And August 22nd the red shutters with the pine tree cut out were installed. The last week of August they installed the corbels on the lake side of the house. However, they are dark like the siding and you can't really see them when looking up at the eaves, because they are in the shadows. I'm waiting for a time when the sun is low in the west to try to take a picture.
Trim goes up first - luckily we had good weather and they cut the trim outside
Trim around the office window. Color is Terra Bronze, brand is LP Smartside (made in Tomahawk MI) with Diamond Kote by Wausau Building Supply.
Sofits are stained pine that matches the siding.
Siding started. This is the NW side of the garage. Siding is Diamond Kote Elkhorn color
Flashing where fill will come to. The yellow pipe is temporary from an LP tank until the permanent natural gas line gets installed.

Lake side of garage all sided and trimmed
Back side of garage all sided and trimmed
Prepping the front walls for the stone
Applying the cultured stone which was custom made to blend well with the stone front from the old cottage.
They call this "slap & stick" stone - slap some morter on it and stick it on the wall!
Front porch ready fro stone.
South corner almost done
SE side finished. Side door is very near the sauna for a quick exit to cool off.
Photo of old cotage stone front with the new stone in the background. I think it turned out really well.
Stone & Siding finished. Note the large beam coming out from under the roof near the eave on each side. These get "turned into" corbels a little later. So photo near end of this page.
The summer was pretty tough to get to the lake and back. Steep hill and no steps.
But fireworks happened in spite of covid. Boats were socially distanced, of course.
Last wall of siding - master bedroom & bath
The final spot for the siding - "rear" porch
Most people would call this the "front" door. But since I think the front is the lakeside, I guess I'll call it the main door.
And finally, the fancy curved gray facia was put up and the red shutters with their pine tree cutout.
From the dock
Putting up the gutters. They are the same color as the trim so you hardly notice them!!
And the finishing touch - the corbels, to make it look like an alpine chalet. You can't see it too well, but that large beam under the roof has finally been finished off.
Corbels by the bump out are shorter of course.
Another photo of old foundation compared to the new stone. Too bad I managed to pick the spot that hd the paint spilled on it. Or is that eagle poop?
