So March is here and work continues. On Friday I ordered the sauna stove from A& L Fabricating, a small manufaturing company in Dollar Bay, MI that makes a great sauna stove called ILO - a finnish word for "delight" or "joy".

Since the eaves have a 6 ft overhang on the balconies, they couldn't pre-make the trusses and they had to be built on site. Here you can see the support for the overhang roof.
Finishing the front eave overhang
The electric entrance passed inspection! Yeah!
The pumber installed the venting system since it vents through the roof and needs to be in place before the roofing is put on. This is the laundry room. The empty space on the other side of the wall is for the stairs to the basement.
And through the roof it goes.
Ready for the ice maker in the fridge
Plumbing vent for the master bathroom is on the other side of the house from the kitchen laundry vent
Bigger than I expected!
Duame came and backfilled around the garage
Side of the garage backfilled. Pink foam is on the concrete. Green is the ZIP siding discussed earlier.
Porch got added and it snowed again. Just a little though.
Porch roof from front door.
The enclosure around the stairwell from garage to basement was put up.
The Kolbe triple pane windows and patio doors arrived. Yeah!
Finally the stairs to the lower level got built. No more walking around (rather sliding down the hill) to get to the lower level.
From the lower level going up.
And the stairs to the garage got installed, too!
And fireplaces installed. Both main level and lower level are gas. Sorry, friends, although wood is great, I am too old to be going to the woodshed and hauling in wood.
Lower lever fireplace is recessed so there is more room in the living area.
Upstairs fireplace vents through the roof. Lower level vents through side of the house under the balcony.
Fireplace vent installed - and it snowed- again...
Screen porch is added.
Screenporch other direction. It is 10' x 28'.
Constructing the balconies - bedroom side.
Kitchen side balcony. The supports are cantilevered back into the house along the trusses so no support needed underneath. No poles!
The road down the hill has served well all winter.
