Finally, May 18, Mike Hunt of Top Shelf Cabinetry in Antigo, delivered and started install of cabinets. He ended up crafting all of the cabinets: kitchen, bar, laundry, master bath, guest bath, lower level kitchen, 2 lower bathrooms and sauna changing area.

For the main floor, all the cabinets are yellow birch and the wood comes from Menominee country, Wisconsin via the Menominee Tribal Enterprise's saw mill. Kitchen & bar cabinets have a very light pecan stain to bring out the reds and to keep them from yellowing over time.

We decided on American Walnut stain for the guest bath which is the same as all the trim. Laminate counter is Formica Elemental Stone.

Laundry is also American Walnut Stain and laminate counter is Formica Autumn Indian Slate

IMG 3984Laundry sink will be installed in this counterIMG 3985Across from the laundry sink is a "mudroom" area with a bench and place for boots underneath. Also a small counter for folding clothes.

Master bath cabinets got stain very dark - charcoal is the color. Granite is Wisconsin Red quarried north of Wausau.

The lower level "cottage" is completely different. The wood is for the kitchen is red oak, also from Menominee Tribal Enterprises. Instead of stain, we used a aged accelerator. For the bathroom & sauna changing room cabinet doors, we used the pine tongue & groove bead board from the old cottage. The interior of those cabinets is beech and birch.
