Finally! On Monday February 10, a crew arrived to clear out the snow and get ready for the framing crew of four, who arrived on Tuesday. Boy they are FAST!
DAY 1 - Snow Removal.
DAY 2 - Start Framing. Nick Holger Contruction, my contractor/builder's home territory is 85 miles south. His crew is making the round trip every day so they arrive around 8 AM. That's OK, because it is not light much before then.
It's official now! We have the construction trailer on site!
Discovered the electrician had been here and put the entrance in.
DAY 3. Things really start to take shape. Begining of day:
Looking toward the front porch and can see framing for window & door. Window will be 2 36" x 54" casements on either side of a 36"x54" fixed window.
Sunken square area in the slab is where the elvator shaft will be for a future elevator if I get to the point I need it.
At the end of the day
The crew concentrated on the exterior walls and the internal load bearing walls.
DAY 4. Finsh framing needed to put on the floor trusses. Staying south next day because of sub-zero weather in the north woods.
Day 4 starting out.
Came back the next mornng and found they had all the floor trusses on!
Trusses that are missing a 2x4 on top are for the walkin shower where the floor has to be slightly lower.
You can see the framing left open for the stairs and elevator shaft. Empty area in front is the cold storage under the porch.
The opening in front is for the stairs from the garage to the basement. There will be a "bridge" over it and the zero-step door into the house will be right here.
